Curious at the Rhaetian Railway, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, we went for a week to "Das Bahndorf" Bergün (Bravuogn in Romansh), Switzerland. Here we enjoyed the beautiful weather in the Alps. Bergün is an old village with beautiful Engadiner houses and it is nice to stroll around here. We visited the Bahnmuseum (Railway Museum) which is located directly across the Railway Station. It is a nice informative museum. The Ortsmuseum (Local Museum) is located in a lovely Engadiner House. Here you can find out how it was to live in this village in the early days. Pigheaded as we are, we walked the Bahnlehrpfad (Railway Learning Path) from Bergün to Preda, so uphill instead of downhill. A nice walk with good views at the viaducts and circular tunnels of the Rhaetian Railway. Signs next to the path give all kinds of information about the railway. Near Filisur we walked up to the Landwasser Viaduct. This is one of the landmarks of the Rhaetian Railway. At Davos we went up the Parsenn with the Parsenn Funicular, which was built in 1931.
Highlight of our journey was the Bernina Express. Photos of this beautiful journey are found in the album Bernina Express, Switzerland 2014.
